Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between Austrian writer Stefan Zweig and psychologist Alfred Adler. While Zweig's connection to Freudian psychoanalysis is well-documented, his engagement with Adler's Individual Psychology has received less attention. The article examines the nature of their personal relationship and Zweig's reception of Individual Psychology, and provides an Adlerian reading of Zweig's posthumously published novella War er es? (1942). It argues that Zweig's focus on Adler in his later works is influenced by Adler's concept of Finalitat, which Zweig adopts as a future-oriented outlook. The research has been peer-reviewed and is available for further reading. [Extracted from the article]
