Abstract

The article explores the rise and fall of the Socialist Party in Massachusetts during the first decades of the twentieth century. Topics include the electoral successes of the party in Massachusetts, factors behind the weakness of the party, the rise of revolutionary radicalism during World War I following the failure of reformism, as well as the major figures, events and ideological debates that characterized the party during the era.
