Abstract

The article focuses on pair of ancient looking coins reveal the existence of a previously unknown Roman emperor. It mentions stater of Alexander the Great and a Roman denarius from 47 bc, there were a couple from the emperor Philip I and one of Gordian III all of rather mediocre quality. It also mentions Roman Empire was rocked by instability, rival claimants to the imperial throne and on inexperienced local metalworkers.
