Abstract
A recent study conducted by researchers from Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana in Karnataka, India, explored the effects of yoga on the mental health of women prisoners. The study involved 76 women prisoners with moderate-to-severe stress levels, who were randomly assigned to either a yoga group or a control group. The results showed that the yoga group experienced significant improvements in anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, and positive and negative affect, compared to the control group. The researchers concluded that yoga can be an effective nonpharmacological intervention for maintaining the mental health of women prisoners. [Extracted from the article]
