Abstract
Ford has announced that it is delaying the launch of its new electric vehicles at its Oakville assembly plant in Ontario, Canada. The company is focusing on building an advanced industrial system for producing electric vehicles, including greenfield construction and conversion of existing assembly plants. Ford plans to invest in EVs and aims to offer hybrid powertrains across its entire Ford Blue model line in North America by the end of the decade. The market launch of three new three-row electric vehicles will be pushed back to 2027 to take advantage of emerging battery technology and allow the consumer market for three-row EVs to further develop. Ford is committed to manufacturing in Canada and will work with the Unifor auto workers union to mitigate the impact of the launch delay on its workforce. The development of the BlueOval City campus and the Ohio Assembly Plant is progressing as planned, and Ford is also working on designing future EVs, including a smaller, low-cost, flexible EV platform.
