Abstract
'What's in the box?' War and conflict in Denis Villeneuve's Dune : Denis Villeneuve's Dune has achieved remarkable commercial and cultural success, collectively surpassing €1 billion in box-office earnings and dominating streaming platforms. This paper critically examines the representation of war within this intergalactic conflict, analysing its portrayal as a nexus of power, technology and ideology. Key themes include guerrilla warfare and resource control, alongside broader reflections on imperialism, religion, and ecological responsibility. Through this lens, Dune emerges not just as a cinematic spectacle but as a meditation on war's enduring relevance, urging deeper engagement with the societal narratives embedded in globally influential visual storytelling.
