Abstract

The main focus of the text is Margarite Poulos' book, *Refugee to Revolutionary*, which provides a transnational social history of Greek communist women from their integration into the Greek Communist Party (KKE) in 1924 until the onset of the Metaxas dictatorship in 1936. The book highlights the political mobilization of Greek refugee women after the 1922 Greco-Turkish War and examines their roles within the KKE, challenging traditional narratives that marginalize women's contributions in communist history. Poulos utilizes a variety of archival materials, including Comintern records, to argue that these women not only participated in but also shaped the party's activities, thereby asserting their agency in a male-dominated political landscape. The work is significant for scholars interested in gender, migration, and left-wing political movements, as it repositions Greek communist women at the center of interwar radicalism.
