Abstract
The Battle of Dettingen, which occurred in June 1743 during the War of the Austrian Succession, involved two coalitions supporting different potential heirs to the Holy Roman Emperor's throne. The Pragmatic Allies, including Austria, Britain, the Dutch Republic, and Hanover, supported Maria Theresa, while France, Prussia, and Bavaria supported Charles Albert of Bavaria. The French forces, led by Marshal Adrien Maurice de Noailles, set a trap for the Pragmatic Army, but due to misjudgments and confusion among the Allies, the battle ended in their favor. The Pragmatic Army successfully repelled the French and suffered fewer casualties. [Extracted from the article]
