Abstract
"Babyn Yar: History and Memory" is a collection of thirteen essays written by Ukrainian, Canadian, and Dutch scholars that explores the Babyn Yar massacre, the largest Holocaust site in the former Soviet Union and modern Ukraine. The essays cover various aspects of the massacre, including its history, the role of the Nazis and Ukrainian auxiliary police, the commemoration of the event, and its depiction in literature, film, art, and music. The book sheds light on previously under-researched aspects of the Babyn Yar massacre and its commemoration, making it a valuable resource for Holocaust scholars and anyone interested in the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine.
