Abstract
China's southern provinces are bracing for more rain this weekend as flooding continues to cause damage and loss of life. The Central Meteorological Observatory has issued a rainstorm warning for provinces including Guizhou, Yunnan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan, Sichuan, and Hubei, where extreme downpours are expected. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for urgent action to address the flooding, and the Ministry of Finance has allocated 916 million yuan ($126 million) to assist those affected. The southern reaches of the Pearl River in Guangdong Province and the city of Guilin in Guangxi Province have been particularly hard-hit by the flooding. [Extracted from the article]
