Abstract
The article focuses on the role of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and its head, Patriarch Kirill (Vladimir Gundyaev), as an active supporter and ideological agent of the Russian state's aggression against Ukraine. It details how the ROC, closely linked to Russian intelligence agencies such as the KGB and FSB, promotes the war as a "holy war," justifies territorial encroachments, and mobilizes Russian society through religious and propaganda networks. The text traces the historical development of the Moscow Patriarchate from its origins in the Kyiv Metropolitanate to its subordination to the Russian state, highlighting its transformation into a tool of political power and repression. It also documents the ROC's involvement in supporting separatist movements in Ukraine, its collaboration with Russian security services, and the controversial figure of Patriarch Kirill as both a religious leader and alleged intelligence agent.
