Abstract
Richard Blair, the adopted son of George Orwell, reflects on his childhood with the famous writer. Richard was adopted by Orwell and his wife, Eileen, when he was just three weeks old. Despite Orwell's fame as a novelist, Richard grew up removed from his father's literary world. Richard now serves as a guardian of Orwell's legacy and is involved with organizations that promote understanding of his father's life and work. He prefers Orwell's essays and avoids speculating on what Orwell would think about current events. Richard's own life has been focused on farming and mechanics, and he has no desire to emulate his father's writing career. [Extracted from the article]
