Abstract
The article discusses the economic and political impact of the May 1926 general strike in Great Britain. Topics explored include the sympathy strike launched by more than two million workers to express support to the Miners' Federation of Great Britain (MFGB), the response of the general council of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to concerns over wages and work hours, and the political situation in the region under the administration of then British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin.
