Abstract
The article reviews *Silver Treasures from the Land of Sheba: Regional Yemeni Jewelry* (2023) by Marjorie Ransom, a Middle East specialist who conducted extensive fieldwork in Yemen to document traditional silver jewelry and its cultural significance. The book presents a comprehensive ethnographic and visual study of Yemeni silver craftsmanship, including interviews with elderly silversmiths and women, detailed photographs, and regional analyses of jewelry styles, techniques, and symbolic meanings. It highlights the decline of this artisanal tradition following socio-economic changes and the exodus of Jewish silversmiths, aiming to preserve knowledge of the craft and its role in local customs, identity, and social status. The work serves as a valuable resource for scholars, artisans, and collectors interested in Middle Eastern jewelry, combining empirical data with cultural context to illuminate a largely undocumented heritage.
