Abstract

A recent report discusses research findings on the topic of suicide from the perspective of philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. Schopenhauer argues that suicide is both foolish and futile, and this report defends his charge of futility based on metaphysical and psychological considerations. The research suggests that psychological connections extend beyond death and that suicide does not allow individuals to simply cease to exist. The report concludes that while Schopenhauer's account is not without objections, it is more defensible than previously thought. This research has been peer-reviewed and is available for further reading. [Extracted from the article]
