Abstract
The Battle of Kap'yong, which occurred in April 1951 during the Korean War, was a significant event that is often overlooked in history. The battle took place in South Korea and involved various military leaders and forces, including General Ridgway and General Van Fleet leading UN forces, and Peng Dehuai and Song Shilun leading the Chinese People's Volunteer Army. Canadian and Australian troops defended Hill 677 against relentless Chinese attacks, and they received a crucial airdrop of supplies. Eventually, American troops relieved the Canadians. This battle demonstrated the resilience of the UN forces against the Chinese offensive and is considered one of the most important engagements of the Korean War. [Extracted from the article]
