Abstract

This recording features violin arrangements of film music by composers Ennio Morricone, Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, Nino Rota, and Myroslav Skoryk, performed by violinist Marco Serino and pianist Leandro Piccioni. Morricone's suite includes five warm and nostalgic pieces alongside two more anxious ones, noted as the strongest arrangements on the album. Bernstein's "West Side Story Suite" is recognizable but presented as a somewhat disjointed compilation. The performers’ interpretation of the Jewish songs captures their declamatory style but is said to lack emotional depth. The album also includes Rota’s "A Sentimental Devil," which shifts from playful to lamenting, and Skoryk’s brief "Melody," described as less impactful due to its short duration.
