Abstract
Banaji's commercial capitalism also sees little transformation of the means of production, while Marx focuses on the transformation of production as the leading edge of historical change. In I A Brief History of Commercial Capitalism i , Jairus Banaji offers us a history of commercial capitalism which according to him began in the 12th century and continued into the 20th century. This is even more so the case with respect to the history of capitalism where the "reality of capitalism" or commercial capitalism needs to be understood in relation to Marx's concept of the mode of production.
