Abstract

The article focuses on an exhibition showcasing the war photography of Robert Capa (born Endre Friedmann, 1913–1954), a Hungarian photojournalist renowned for documenting major 20th-century conflicts including the Spanish Civil War, Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II, First Arab-Israeli War, and First Indochina War. The exhibition, held at the Dilip Piramal Art Gallery in Mumbai, featured 108 of Capa’s iconic images, presented through a collaboration between the Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Centre Delhi and the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest. The photographs capture poignant moments from various war fronts and civilian experiences, culminating with the image taken on the day Capa died from a landmine in Vietnam in 1954. This collection highlights Capa’s enduring legacy as a pioneering war photographer and photojournalist.
