Abstract

This article examines the management of Scientific Research Activities (SRAs) among secondary school students in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, identifying current practices, challenges, and proposing improvement measures. The study surveyed 180 teachers and administrators and 201 students across all 13 public secondary schools, finding that while SRAs are recognized for fostering creativity and scientific skills, their implementation faces obstacles such as limited student time, insufficient funding, inadequate facilities, and a lack of teacher expertise and managerial awareness. Although over 80% of respondents support the goals of SRAs, less than half consider these goals adequately achieved, highlighting gaps in planning, organization, and evaluation. The research concludes that raising awareness among educators and administrators, innovating research forms, and applying targeted management measures are urgent and feasible steps to enhance the effectiveness of SRAs in secondary education within this developing Southeast Asian context.
