Abstract
The article focuses on the evolving political landscape in South Africa, highlighting the Democratic Alliance's (DA) recent leadership renewal under Geordin Hill-Lewis, who aims to broaden the party's appeal among black South African voters. The DA's new triracial leadership team seeks to overcome historical perceptions of the party as representing white privilege by emphasizing community engagement and addressing service delivery issues. Despite growing support reflected in opinion polls, the DA faces challenges including skepticism over its stance on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and low visibility of its new leader. The article also notes the African National Congress's (ANC) declining electoral fortunes and internal succession struggles, which may influence upcoming local elections and the broader political balance.
