Abstract
The article focuses on new insights into Frédéric Chopin's teaching practices, primarily revealed through the recently published letters of his favorite student, Friederike Müller, which provide detailed, contemporaneous accounts of his piano lessons in 1839–1845 Paris. Chopin, who earned most of his income from teaching rather than royalties, charged high fees and taught mainly wealthy young women, emphasizing a singing tone and learning by example rather than verbal explanation. This fresh documentation challenges earlier idealized and incomplete portraits of Chopin as a teacher, offering a more vivid and realistic understanding of his methods and personality.
