Abstract
The article focuses on Europe's development of medium-range missile capabilities in response to security concerns related to Russia and the Ukraine conflict. France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are leading efforts within the European Long-Range Strike Approach (ELSA) consortium to develop missiles with ranges up to or exceeding 2,000 kilometers, aiming for deployment around 2030. Meanwhile, several European countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Poland, have withdrawn from the 1997 Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty, citing security threats from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a move that has drawn criticism from the international community. The article highlights the evolving military strategies and treaty dynamics in Europe amid ongoing regional tensions.
