Abstract
The article discusses Algeria's efforts to revitalize its film industry, aiming to restore its prominence in global cinema through the production of historical films and the establishment of new production facilities. Algeria, the only Arab country to win an Academy Award, plans to focus on stories that reflect its anti-colonial history, including a biopic about Emir Abdelkader, a 19th-century resistance leader. The government is also working to attract foreign productions and streamline the filmmaking process with the creation of the National Film Center and a new 'cinema city' in Algiers. Despite challenges, including a decline in state revenues and competition from neighboring countries, Algeria seeks to produce up to 30 films annually and enhance its international profile.
