REHABILITATING THE HISTORIC BROOKLYN BRIDGE: Upgrades to the landmark structure required modern engineering.

Abstract
The article focuses on the $320 million rehabilitation of the historic Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, which aimed to balance modern engineering with historic preservation. The extensive restoration included structural improvements, masonry conservation, and the installation of public plazas, enhancing both safety and aesthetics for future generations. The project adhered to federal standards for historic properties, salvaging original materials and sourcing new ones from original quarries.
