Abstract

HyImpulse Technologies, a German startup, has launched a sounding rocket powered by a combination of liquid oxygen and solid paraffin, which is a petroleum byproduct commonly used in candles. The company aims to make rocket trips more affordable and environmentally friendly by using "space-grade candle wax" as a fuel source. Paraffin is cheaper and safer to handle compared to traditional rocket fuels, and it allowed the company to transport the rocket as ordinary cargo without expensive safety restrictions. While paraffin is not a green alternative, HyImpulse plans to use paraffin created from carbon dioxide and water in the future. The company has successfully tested its technology and is developing a larger rocket for commercial use. [Extracted from the article]
