Abstract
The article focuses on the restoration project of Eleanor Roosevelt's personal photographs at Val-Kill, her cottage in Hyde Park, New York. Initiated in 2015, the project aimed to return these images to their original locations, enhancing the historical integrity of the site, which had been designated a National Historic Site in 1977. The author utilized archival photographs taken by William Stickle in 1962 as a reference, collaborated with the Roosevelt family for missing images, and created captions for nearly 200 photographs, thereby reintroducing Eleanor Roosevelt as a deeply human figure connected to her family and memories. The completed project not only restored the visual narrative of her life but also established a companion website, allowing broader access to her story. [Extracted from the article]
