Abstract

The article focuses on the transformation of the Sheep Field Barn at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens in Hertfordshire by the architectural practice DSDHA. The £5 million, 600m² renovation enhances the barn—originally used by sculptor Henry Moore for storage and later adapted as a gallery by Hawkins\Brown in 1999—into new learning and engagement facilities with expanded gallery spaces dedicated to Moore's life and work. The design includes an additional bay to the steel frame and a Douglas fir timber lean-to, reflecting Moore’s post-war ethos through a concept described as "elegant frugality." The barn is situated within 28 hectares of sheep fields and sculpture gardens adjacent to Moore’s studios in Perry Green. [Extracted from the article]
