Abstract
The article discusses two significant works that explore urban experiences and transformations in refugee camps and cities, emphasizing the perspectives of marginalized communities. Siddiqi's work highlights refugee camps as complex sites of agency and structural violence, urging a reevaluation of academic boundaries and the importance of movement in understanding these spaces. In contrast, Tomás's "In the Skin of the City" examines the evolution of Luanda, Angola, focusing on the urban poor and the socio-economic dynamics that shape their lives, particularly the tensions between formal and informal settlements. Both texts challenge conventional narratives and encourage deeper engagement with the lived realities of marginalized populations in the Global South. [Extracted from the article]
