Abstract

In Zimbabwe, 18 opposition lawmakers from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) lost their seats after a man claiming to be a party official recalled them. This follows the recall of 15 CCC lawmakers in October, triggering by-elections that could give the ruling ZANU-PF party a two-thirds majority. The situation has heightened political tensions in the country since the disputed August 2023 election. In Gabon, the military junta has announced plans to hold elections in August 2025, two years after seizing power from President Ali Bongo. The dates are subject to change, but this marks a transition away from military rule. [Extracted from the article]
