Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive overview of the history and experiences of Indo-Fijians, who are descendants of Indian indentured laborers brought to Fiji by the British Empire. It discusses the conditions of indentured labor, the emergence of a unique Indo-Fijian identity, and the role of religion in community cohesion. The article also explores the challenges faced by Indo-Fijians, including racism and political instability, which led to significant emigration to Canada. The text includes personal reflections from the author, Rizwaan S. Abbas, who shares his experiences growing up in Canada and the importance of preserving his Indo-Fijian culture and heritage.
