Abstract

The article discusses the removal of the "Big Indian" statue from the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts. The statue, created by Rodman Shutt, was taken down due to concerns about stereotyping and cultural appropriation. The article explores the history of Native American imagery in roadside attractions and the changing attitudes towards these representations. The statue has since been sold and relocated to Oklahoma. The article presents diverse perspectives on the statue, with some arguing for its removal and others seeing it as a harmless tribute. [Extracted from the article]
