Abstract

The article "INSIDE PICKETT'S CHARGE" from the History of War journal recounts the events of the Confederate regiment, the 19th Virginia Infantry, during the infamous Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg on 3 July 1863. Led by Major General George E Pickett, the regiment faced intense artillery fire and engaged in hand-to-hand combat as they attempted to breach the Union line. Despite their valiant efforts, the regiment suffered heavy casualties and was unable to achieve their objective. The survivors of Pickett's Charge were forever bound by the harrowing events of that day. [Extracted from the article]
