Abstract
Surely the ideas that secularization inevitably leads to greater human flourishing or that secularization equals modernization (or that the latter is unequivocally good) have been so thoroughly discredited that any politics must take account of religion somehow. The contributors share with many religious thinkers a profound distrust of modern capitalism's understanding of humanity and its capacities, and points for dialogue abound. From the vantage point of the United States, one of the most striking surprises since the 2008 financial crisis has been the resurgence of the political Left (Marxist, post-Marxist, and non-Marxist).
