Abstract
McGill University in Montreal temporarily closed its main campus to remove pro-Palestinian protesters who had been camping there for over two months. The university hired a private security firm to clear out the protesters, while police in riot gear patrolled the surrounding streets. The encampment, which had been in place since April, was mostly dismantled, but some protesters remained nearby. Universities across North America have faced protests over the Israel-Hamas conflict, with calls to sever ties with Israeli institutions and divest from companies linked to Israel. McGill administrators attempted to negotiate a solution but ultimately decided to dismantle the encampment due to health and safety risks. [Extracted from the article]
