Abstract
"Inside the deal: how the EU got Brexit done" is a book that offers a behind-the-scenes view of the Brexit negotiations from the perspective of the European Union. The author, a former senior advisor to Michel Barnier, the EU's chief negotiator, highlights the challenges and complexities faced by both sides during the four-year negotiation period. The book contrasts the composed and rational approach of the EU with the erratic and emotional approach of the British negotiators. It also explores the enhanced unity within the EU following the UK referendum and debunks misconceptions about the EU's stance and negotiating approach. The author concludes that the outcome of the negotiations was unexpected. [Extracted from the article]
