Abstract

The article explores theologian Thomas Merton's introduction to Phil Berrigan's book "No More Strangers." Topics discussed include the book being a protest against the idea that the Church needs a new "posture" or a refurbished image, consequences of the view of the Church as primarily clerical and conventual and ambiguity in the book's title.
