Abstract
This article examines how political devolution in the United Kingdom has led to significant changes in police governance, policy, and practice, with a particular focus on Wales. Although policing in Wales remains formally integrated within the England and Wales system, the devolution of other policy areas has created a distinct Welsh policy environment, resulting in increasing divergence from policing in England. The paper highlights that devolution has complicated policing operations in Wales and calls for further empirical research to understand the extent, causes, and consequences of these differences across the UK's constituent nations.
