Abstract

Infinium, a startup backed by Bill Gates, has developed a process to create fuel from water and carbon dioxide. The company's facility in Corpus Christi, Texas, uses electrolysis to break down water into hydrogen and oxygen, which is then combined with CO2 captured from local refineries to create a synthetic fuel. Infinium currently produces nearly 8,300 liters of e-fuel per day, which is distributed to customers across the US. The e-fuel market is expected to reach nearly $50 billion by 2030, and companies like Amazon and American Airlines have already expressed interest in using e-fuel to reduce emissions in their operations. However, there are concerns about the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of e-fuel compared to traditional fuels. [Extracted from the article]
