Abstract

This article focuses on NAIDOC Week 2024, an annual event held in July to celebrate and recognize the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. The 2024 theme, "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud," emphasizes cultural strength and identity, symbolized by the official poster "Urapun Muy" by Torres Strait Islander artist Deb Belyea. The article highlights Arts Law’s Artists in the Black (AITB) program, which provides free legal advice and support to Indigenous artists and communities, and its advocacy efforts, including the Fake Art Harms Culture campaign aimed at preventing the sale of inauthentic Indigenous art. NAIDOC Week features diverse cultural events nationwide, promoting education, truth-telling, and economic opportunities within Indigenous creative industries.
