Abstract

The recent shooting of former President Donald Trump is just one example of the political violence that has shaped US history. Throughout the years, several presidents and presidential candidates have been targeted, including Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan. The Secret Service has foiled most of these attempts, but some have resulted in injuries or deaths. Political violence has also affected leaders in other countries, such as Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme. Concerns about violence surrounding presidential elections are common among voters, regardless of political affiliation. [Extracted from the article]
