Abstract
This article discusses the life and actions of Emilio Aguinaldo, a key figure in the struggle for Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule. Aguinaldo initially led a rebellion against the Spanish government in 1896 but was eventually forced into exile. However, with the outbreak of the Spanish-American War, Aguinaldo allied himself with the US Navy and resumed his fight against Spain. After Spain's defeat, tensions arose between Aguinaldo and the US government, leading to a full-scale war between the two sides. Aguinaldo's forces were eventually defeated, and he was captured and brought to trial. Despite his later attempts at a political career, Aguinaldo's influence waned, and he lived to see the Philippines gain independence in 1946 before passing away in 1964. [Extracted from the article]
