Abstract
The article examines the New Orleans' 1884 World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition and its impact. Topics covered include how the exposition shaped U.S. foreign policy and northern fairs, how the exposition became an opportunity for U.S. businesses to make contacts with foreign educational leaders and the logistical strategy and fundraising efforts of Major Edward A. Burke, director general of the exposition.
