Abstract

The article reviews the documentary *Patrick: A Slave to Ireland*, which explores the historical figure of St. Patrick and his role in spreading Christianity in early Ireland. It presents Patrick as a Briton enslaved in Ireland who later returned as a missionary, drawing on his own writings, notably the *Confessio*, to provide insight into his character and mission. The film combines scholarly perspectives with dramatized scenes and highlights the development of Irish ecclesiastical structures and Christian outreach beyond Ireland. While the documentary includes some romanticized and simplified elements, it situates Patrick within his genuine historical context and acknowledges the complexities surrounding his legacy and the spread of Christianity in Ireland.
