Abstract
The article focuses on the four canonical Gospels of the New Testament—Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John—and their role as distinct biographies of Jesus of Nazareth, each with unique theological emphases and intended audiences. It highlights that while these texts were written decades after Jesus' crucifixion and contain differences in narrative and detail, they also share core ethical teachings and portrayals of Jesus' life that early Christians found faithful and meaningful. The article encourages reading each Gospel as a whole to appreciate its particular message and structure, rather than as fragmented excerpts, noting that these texts blend historical elements with theological purpose. It also references the Gospel of Thomas as an additional early source of Jesus' sayings.
