Abstract
This article focuses on solastalgia, defined as climatic anxiety arising from traumatic environmental changes that disrupt individuals' emotional connection to their place and community. Using a phenomenological approach, it explores how emotions shape the lived experience of place and contribute to the distress caused by environmental degradation, natural disasters, and climate change. The paper argues that compassionate acceptance of one's emotional vulnerability, rather than purely cognitive or suppressive strategies, is essential for healing solastalgic distress and restoring a sense of belonging. It also highlights the need for social support and collective interventions to address the mental health impacts of solastalgia while promoting both human and ecosystem well-being.
