Abstract

"Reversing the rivers: a memoir of history, hope, and human rights" is an autobiography by William Schulz, the former executive director of Amnesty International USA. The book reflects on Schulz's twelve years in the role and offers a wider reflection on his life. Schulz discusses his experiences and reflections on human rights issues, including the challenges faced by human rights workers and the impact of the 9/11 attacks. The book also touches on the glamorous side of being a human rights leader, but Schulz acknowledges the contrast with the reality of those suffering human rights abuses. [Extracted from the article]
