SOMALIA: Puntland Poll.

Abstract

They are the first one-person one-vote elections since 1969 when dictator B Siad Barreh b seized power, although such polls have been held in Puntland's neighbour B Somaliland b , which declared independence in 1991 but has never been recognised internationally. Thousands of voters lined up outside polling stations to cast their ballots when voting started at 5 am (0200 GMT).
