Abstract

During World War II, the Special Air Service (SAS) played a crucial role in the Western Allied invasion of Europe. Trooper Alec Borrie, a young Londoner, was part of the 1st SAS Regiment and fought in France and beyond. The SAS carried out guerrilla operations and worked alongside the French Resistance to disrupt German forces. Despite the danger posed by the Nazi Commando Order, which called for the immediate execution of Allied commandos, Borrie and his comrades remained undeterred. The SAS suffered heavy casualties in France, but their efforts were instrumental in the success of the invasion. Alec Borrie later became involved with the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans, which provides transportation and events for veterans. [Extracted from the article]
