Abstract
Walt Disney Co. has reached an agreement with Sony Group Corp. for Sony to take over the majority of its DVD and Blu-ray sales in the US and Canada. This move comes as the DVD business has significantly declined in recent years due to the rise of online streaming. Disney will now shift to a licensed model, with Sony marketing and distributing the discs to retailers. The deal will include both new Disney releases and older titles, while Disney will retain control of its home entertainment business, including licensing its films and TV series to streaming platforms.
